The Drewlo Lab

Imagine if every baby could have a healthy start.

In the Drewlo Lab, we are committed to this goal. By bridging reproductive biology and translational science, we have developed precise tests for accurate pregnancy assessment in the earliest stages of pregnancy. Through the development of innovative in vitro models of disease we are able to test new intervention strategies and therapeutic tools. Our collection of high quality samples are used by scientists around the world to drive pregnancy research.

Our multidisciplinary work aims to drive the production of novel tools and assessment methods to improve pregnancy health and fetal development to ensure a healthy future for all mothers and babies.

The Drewlo Lab was established January 2013. In 2022 we joined the Sunnybrook Research Institute in Toronto Canada to expand our scope of work and to help even more families.

Our mission is to provide mothers, clinicians and scientists with information to support successful and healthy pregnancies.

We are equipped with state of the art tissue and cell culture facilities, as well as, molecular biology equipment with high-throughput capabilities. Core technologies include RNA (qPCR, RNASeq)  multi-platform next generation DNA sequencing platforms and protein work (IHC, Westen Blot, ELISA, ChIP, Chip-Seq, FACS, MassSpec and others). The lab also has access to additional core facilities and collaborates locally, nationally and internationally.

The laboratory is proudly supported by:
